Some larger hearing-care providers work with selected manufacturers or restricted product ranges. We don’t.
You won’t be passed around a large team or sent through a call centre. Our clinical team is small — Lee, Simon, Emily and Jacob — so even when you don’t see the same clinician at every appointment, you’re being looked after by people who know the clinic, your hearing care and how we work.
Where possible, we’ll keep you with the clinician who knows you best, but you’ll always have access to the wider team when needed.

Our appointments are deliberately unhurried.
We’ll explain what we’ve found clearly and tell you what we genuinely think you need — including when the answer is nothing yet.
If your hearing is fine, we’ll tell you. If wax is causing the problem, we’ll deal with the wax. If hearing aids would help, we’ll explain the options without pushing you into making a decision.
We would rather you travelled home knowing exactly where you stand than leave having been sold something you didn’t need.

Getting them right takes several appointments — the assessment, the fitting, then fine-tuning as your brain adjusts — and after that they need reviewing, cleaning and servicing for years. The practice you choose isn’t somewhere you go once; it’s somewhere you’ll keep coming back to.
That’s why it can be worth going a little past the nearest provider. An independent practice can fit any of the seven leading brands rather than a limited range, and a team that already knows your ears saves you starting from scratch every visit. For a one-off wax removal, pick whoever’s closest. For hearing aids you’ll wear every day for the next five years, it’s worth choosing the people, not just the postcode.
We’re in Wickersley, on the Rotherham side — a straight run down the M1, with no need to cross Barnsley town centre.
From the Barnsley junctions it’s about 25 minutes down the M1, then a couple of minutes into Wickersley village. Because we’re on the south side of Barnsley, the villages this side — Hoyland, Tankersley, Birdwell, Elsecar, Wombwell and Jump — get a clear run to us without going through the town.

No. You can book directly with us for a hearing test, wax removal or a hearing-aid consultation. If we ever find something that needs your GP or ENT, we’ll tell you clearly and point you the right way.
