Lee Bennett, Audiologist & Director at Wickersley Audiology

About Lee

Lee Bennett has worked in audiology since March 2010 and is an Audiologist and Director at Wickersley Audiology.

He began his career as a Hearing Care Assistant, completing around six months of initial training before progressing directly onto the Foundation Degree in Hearing Aid Audiology at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. On completion of the course, Lee qualified as a Hearing Aid Dispenser and continued to develop his clinical experience in adult hearing assessment, hearing aid fitting and long-term hearing rehabilitation.

Lee has a particular interest in the technology behind modern hearing aids: how different manufacturers approach sound processing, speech understanding, connectivity and noise management, and how those differences translate into everyday performance for the person wearing them.

His experience working within larger high-volume hearing-care environments also helped shape his view of what good audiology should look like. Lee believes appointments should never be treated as a numbers exercise. Patients need enough time to be listened to properly, to understand their hearing results and to consider the options available to them without pressure.

That philosophy was central to the creation of Wickersley Audiology. The idea for an independent clinic was conceived in August 2021, with the aim of building a practice where clinical care, honest advice and long-term aftercare came before volume targets. Wickersley Audiology opened its doors in January 2022.

For Lee, good audiology starts with recognising that every patient is an individual. The role of the audiologist is to provide an honest assessment, explain the results clearly and recommend the right solution for that person's hearing, lifestyle and priorities — whether that means hearing aids, further investigation, monitoring or simply reassurance.

Independence also allows Lee and the team to work across the major hearing aid manufacturers rather than being restricted to a particular brand. This means technology can be selected around the patient rather than trying to make the patient fit the product.

Lee remains closely involved in the development of Wickersley Audiology, with particular interests in hearing technology, clinical standards, patient experience and the way new technology can be used to improve hearing care without losing the personal relationship at the centre of it.
