Simon Wright has worked in audiology since 2006 and is an Audiologist and Director at Wickersley Audiology.
He trained in hearing care at Mary Hare in Newbury, an organisation with a longstanding connection to audiology and the education and support of deaf people. Since qualifying, Simon has built extensive experience across adult hearing assessment, hearing aid fitting, hearing rehabilitation and ongoing patient care.
From 2007, Simon also held a senior leadership role within a large national hearing-care organisation. While this gave him considerable experience in both clinical practice and the management of hearing-care services, Simon has always regarded himself first and foremost as an audiologist.
His years working within larger, high-volume environments helped shape his belief that good hearing care needs time, continuity and individual attention. Patients should never feel like another appointment in the diary. They should be listened to properly, understand their results, be given honest advice and have access to the right options for their individual needs.
That philosophy ultimately contributed to the creation of Wickersley Audiology. The idea for an independent clinic was conceived in August 2021, with Simon and Lee wanting to create a practice where clinical standards, honest recommendations and long-term aftercare came before volume targets. Wickersley Audiology opened its doors in January 2022.
Alongside his work in hearing assessment and hearing aid care, Simon has developed a particular interest and expertise in ear health and microsuction wax removal. He regularly provides professional ear examinations and wax-removal treatment, while ensuring that patients are referred appropriately when an ear-health concern requires further investigation.
As an independent audiologist, Simon is able to work across the major hearing aid manufacturers rather than being restricted to a single brand. This allows recommendations to be made according to the patient's hearing loss, lifestyle, priorities and preferences rather than the limitations of a particular product range.
For Simon, good audiology is about combining clinical knowledge with straightforward advice and long-term care. Whether somebody needs hearing technology, wax removal, further investigation or simply reassurance, the starting point is always the same: understand the person first and recommend only what is appropriate for them.
