Hearing Aids
We offer hearing aids from all the largest manufacturers and will recommend solutions based on your ears and results. Some hearing aids require impressions of your ears (custom hearing aids), and some do not. The cost of hearing aids varies, this is down to the technology and quality of manufacture rather than how it looks or the style of hearing aid.
Being able to offer you hearing aids from all the big manufacturers within the industry allows us to have access to the very latest in technology, be that rechargeable hearing aids offering all-day battery life, Bluetooth hearing aids allowing the user to connect to a mobile device or tablet allowing them to stream telephone calls or video calls from their loved ones. Something that has unfortunately become very necessary over these last few years. Some hearing aids even have fall detection technology that, should the worse happen, will send a text message to a loved one informing them of the fall!
If, like me, you are a technophobe, don’t be put off with all these additional features. The manufacturers have included the features to enhance your experience with the hearing aids, but ultimately – not necessary if all you want to do is hear the best that you can hear.
Hearing Consultation
How good is your hearing? In the comfort and quiet of our soundproof booth, we will check your hearing levels. We will also check the physical health of the ear and video the eardrums. Then we will explain our findings in an easy-to-understand format and offer solutions to improve your hearing depending on the results.
We will continue this level of commitment by requesting you to come back for annual checks so we can monitor your hearing health and if necessary, make adjustments to your hearing aids to keep you hearing as well as we can for as long as we can!
Hearing Aid Accessories
It is becoming more and more common for people to struggle with the tv, therefore we can supply you with a device (Tv streamer) that will plug directly into the back of your tv (one cable) and wirelessly stream the audio from the tv directly to your hearing aids, vastly improving your chances of distinguishing peoples voice within the tv show and giving you a level of clarity you may not have had for a long time.
Also available are body-worn Bluetooth microphones, these help people with hearing loss hear better in group situations like having your family around for dinner. The microphone will work with the hearing aids in reducing background noise and improving the clarity of the speech.
Hearing aid Repairs
Having extensive knowledge of all hearing aids and manufacturers, we know how to fix them! so if your hearing aid breaks down, there’s a very strong chance that we will have you up and running in no time! – if you have bought your hearing aids from us and they are under warranty then there is no charge for repairing them. If your hearing aids are from another practice, not worry we can fix them too, however, there may be a small charge for this service depending on what is required to complete the repair.
Hearing Protection
We can offer 'off the shelf' or custom-made hearing protection that will help reduce your exposure to damaging loud noises from work or hobby. Protect your hearing now or you may suffer from hearing loss sooner rather than than you think.
If you would prefer to use another company for your hearing protection needs, we offer an impression-taking service at a small cost. You can then take your impressions from us and post them on.
Micro Suction Wax removal
Wax Removal at Wickersley Audiology, Rotherham
Safety first – we use micro-suction as our preferred method of wax removal. This method has the best results and lowers the risk of infection and causing any damage. We use video Otoscopy to show you the inside of your ears before and afterwards.
In terms of preparation unlike syringing we don’t need softening before the procedure, if the wax is hard we can apply drops before and during the procedure.
If you would like to use softening drops we would only recommend Olive oil or Ear-Ol. We DO NOT recommend the use of OTEX as this contains Hydrogen Peroxide and caqn cause the ear to be sensitive and the skin to be brittle. If you have used Otex we recommend allowing the ear and the wax to dry out over a few days prior to treatment
